HI,
I won an Ebay auction w/ a set of 8 AG portrait pins. They are just as cute as can be & my dd8 will be shocked to find them in her stocking Christmas morning. I have never shown her pics of them online. I believe they were available at Hallmark several years ago.
What do you recommend as a way to diplay them? They are much to pretty to put in a jewelry box & I know my dd would not want to wear them for fear of losing one. They look like mini head shot portraits of each girl, so they would be sweet sitting out. How would you make them "sit up"? They have a tie tack type closure.
Any creative/crafty people out there? I don't sew, but thank goodness my mom does (she has a ton of 30's era clothes ready for Christmas for Miss Kit ). I can wield a mean glue gun & am willing to try new ideas.
Warmly,

Why don't you go to Hobby Lobby or Michaels or Wal Mart and get a frame made to put memoralbilia in. You could cover a foam core board with some kind of plush velvet, and stick the pins in, make a circle or oval and put a piece of old costume jewelry in the center or someting that pertains to AG, just a thought. It's called a shadow box frame, I think.

I collect pins. I must have a few hundred pins of all types-AG, Beanie Baby, sports, cities, colleges, political, you name it.
What has worked for me is to take a plain, solid colored pillow case or pillow sham. Dark colors work best but any color will work. I nailed the top part to the wall. 1 nail in each corner. If you're nailing it horizontally then put 1 in the top middle. Then let it just hang. Put all your pins through the pillowcase and fasten them in the back of the pillow case. You can put them through one or both layers of the fabric.
This probably works better if you have a lot of pins. But you can also pin buttons, nametags, or medals to it, too. I now have 2 pillowcases with pins on them nailed to the wall.

Have you looked for a Grin Pin banner? It is a black felt rectangle that says "American Girl" at the top and Grin Pins at the bottom. In between is a bunch of circles where you pin the Grin Pins that used to come with the outfits. Is that right, they came with outfits? That was before my time.
If you look on eBay, you can find them easily and cheaply. And even if you don't want one you could make a similar one very easily. It just has a hem in the top that you put a dowel through to hang it on the wall. We got ours so cheap you wouldn't believe. It came in an auction with the purple AGT locker that Ionly paid like $10 for. And it came completely full of pins! We've since added some that we've gotten at AGP at various events. I can take a pic if you want to see.

These are some auctions with pics of the banner. You could buy a piece of felt, which doesn't have to be hemmed, hot glue ribbon on it and start your own pin banner.

Thanks for the replys! I love all 3 ideas (shadow box, pillowcase, and the "grin" banner/felt) They would all work well & look really cute in dd's room. I will let you know what I decide.
